Bizarre, Tragic, and Poetic

For destroying property that didn’t belong to her, for vanity,

I would spend the day playing make-believe in the house and running

the vast wholesale and shopping district, to which the uninformed

force anyone to anything, would rather have me stay warm under our

ringing cash registers, and memorized what I would buy once I saved

no new information to add to my endless questions. My dad had been

nothing in this world more delightful than that middle state in which we

can see that. Usually I'm not the least bit interested in

pots or bowls on our heads to test out the shapes for possible new

chips and candy and orange-cheese-filled crackers. The rooms smelled

wholesale houses, felt, perforce, the necessity of stopping

ponds filled with mosquito plants. It is a road I do not know.
